GBPVR as an extender

Hey everyone!

I have had it up to here with MythTV....the newest 8.04 kernel and the 0.21 version of it keeps crashing and I mean hard lockups. So I thought I would use GBPVR for a while but had a couple of questions....

Can you use GBPVR like frontends and backends?
Scenario:
Main computer has the tuner cards and hooked to a TV. (living room)
Lesser powered "satellite" or "frontend" computer using one of those card from the main computer and streaming it.

Can this be done in a non linux world? Can GBPVR interface with Vista MCE?

GBPVR can work with clients - This is probably a good starting point

I have just what you asked for (as do many on here I guess).
One system with all the tuner cards and disk space, with distributed control and viewing clients. I currently have two PC clients, one Hauppauge MVP client and one PCH client.
Well more than two PC clients, but of intermittent use, like ancient wireless laptop in the garage.

This is good. I wonder if GBPVR can interface with Vista Media Center, like the extenders that can't rewind or fast forward, except this can.

The front end I will be using is a VIA Epia MII 10000 maxed with 1GB ram, running XP on a spare 80gb hdd i have laying around. My server will be an ACER E380 which has AMDx2 64 4800+ w/ 2GB ram, Nvidia GeForce 6200 PCIe DVI/HDMI adapter and a WinTV-500-MCE by Hauppauge.
What codec(s) are you guys using to get the best picture quality, and how could I obtain it too?

The recommended minimum CPU for GB-PVR is a P3 1Ghz or higher CPU, and requires a fairly decent video card, unfortunately the VIA Epia fails on both those fronts. Its CPU is about the equivalent of a 500MHz celeron, and its video card is a bit under powered.

A good alternative to an underpowered PC is the popcorn hour client. See device here http://www.popcornhour.com

I would love to build a media centre based on an itx mobo but i just can't find anything with the features that is affordable to run as a client, the mrs would also be very happy with a small case sitting next to the stereo that doesn't look like a computer.

I am very intersted in the Popcorn hour but ordering from overseas on what looks like a "when its available we will bill you and send it to you" type basis, I can't hold onto money long enough for that, I have money now, want product now. also I would like hdmi ...

If any of you guys have found other products ie mobo's that would be fantastic

bummer. So my laptop CeleronM 1.46GHZ w. 2GB ram and built in Intel video would do better?
