Thanks stustunz, Oh I see, that's pretty cool - it's a generic remote kit that works with all their cards I guess? Strange, I cannot find the product on Hauppauges own website and when I google it I get mainly NZ sites, weird.
What sort of interface does it have to the PC, is it usb or hdmi...? If there is a well-published standard for remote control, I'm thinking maybe if I buy the right HTPC case and it comes with a remote then that may be a nicer option anyway? Have you any experience with HTPC cases?

its just that i use the windows mce 2005 remote
but i just had a look for you and they are been discontinued (there is still stock if you look at the right place) but if you get the later vista remote it seems there are no xp drivers you want the mce 2005 remote microsoft http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Hardware/1476844.html just a link so you know what one im talking about it comes with remote ir receiver (Usb) 2x ir senders if you have settop box (sky) to change channels not the hauppauge one it works but in my opinion not as good

stustunz Wrote:not the hauppauge one it works but in my opinion not as good ... and I assume that (since we are on this forum) it works with GB-PVR and not just whatever comes with MCE? (Never even seen a box running MCE.)

yeah works with gbpvr
only the start button doesnt so you need a third party software i use HIP for this but there is also Eventghost or ir server suite (have a look on the wiki) but you can also use these programs to do other things aswell with the remote
