I'm a HTPC beginner looking for help.
The Hauppauge HD PVR is connected to my satellite receiver. The ArcSoft record function is working (even though it is unsupported), so I am sure my issue is a GB-PVR config issue. I tried each renderer, no luck. I set the control panel recording service to interact with the desktop. I tried all the decoders on the playback tab, no change. When running PVRX2, I can't access the settings, only thru config app. Some music (flac) works, some (mp3) doesn't. Net radio guide works, sound doesn't. I must be missing something simple...here are my logs...Can anyone help?

For lack of audio with HD-PVR try this patch: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...tcount=188 Also try setting the AAC decoder to the ArcSoft video decoder.

This is a known bug in the current release. If you create a 'skin' directory in the gbpvr directory then it'll start working.

These will come down to the default directshow decoders on your machine. GB-PVR takes no part in the playback of these types of files - it just asks directshow to play them.

Unzipped and copied the dll into the gbpvr directory, the patch, no sound. Set all the Advanced codecs to ArcSoft.
Still no sound or picture in LiveTV. BTW the Video library does work.

Created the skin directory, now I can see the settings, just can't change them. I see my system sounds are disabled..I guess that is so they don't interfere with recordings....

Music issue can wait 'til later time. MediaMonkey works great.
Any other ideas?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your logs and I'll take a look.

I'm not aware of anyone else with that problem, so I'm guessing you're driving it incorrectly. Press enter on an item, then press left/right to change the setting.

They're disabled by default because I hate system sounds. They're there as an option for people that do like them. They shouldnt interfere with recordings.

You are right about the logs, I was trying to manually enter the change...system sound enabled.

Here are the logs.

I cant see any obvious cause in the logs, but if the audio is just missing in live tv, then I'm almost certain that means that patch isnt applied properly, so I'd try reinstalling it.

I tried re intalling the .dll file, initially with no luck, then I discovered something.
If I exit PVRX2, start the ArcSoft recording app to make sure the capture module is working, exit and go back into PVRX2, then LiveTV works. But only the first time. If I go back to the main menu and back into LiveTV, i'm back to no picture, no sound. This is reproducable. If I exit PVRX2,start ArcSoft, etc. it will work again the first time. I tried this with the ArcSoft decoder, ffdshow decoder, and Mpeg decoder. Same result, works first time, then nothing. I can also do a successful manual record the first time, instead of LiveTV...
I am not sure where to go from here. Is this a vista 64, Gbpvr, or Hauppauge problem?

Some further info for when you wake up sub.
The reason I didn't notice this before is that it takes anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds for the LiveTV capture to start working. First sound, then video, then both. Until then I just have the guide and menu buttons across the bottom. Changing the channel can take up to 3 min., if it doesn't hang up, which it does often.
I have also tried going into the config app and changing the PVRX2 video renderer to each of the four options. The results are the same.
I also tried changing the advanced codecs. Changin all 3 to system default gives me sound, no picture. Changing the first one to ffdshow and leaving the other 2 at ArcSoft is the same result.
I notice I can change the ArcSoft filter properties in the config app...is there something there I can try?
