Playing from the NMT local HD

How much interest is there in using GBPVR to display files that are stored on the NMT and instead of streaming to the PC and back again over http, mvpmcx2 plays the file locally?

The reason I ask is I did make some code I had written for myself more generic so everyone could use it and unlike the DVD code, it would all be automatic.

There are some limitations

- sub would need to send the full filename
- audio play all would still be streamed by GBPVR

Also the NMT is not a NAS so some things especially album art and photos will be slower.

So the nmt would show up in the gbpvr video library? But when playing the files from the NMT it would playthen from itself rather than through the server??

I guess that would be quick good, especially for HiDef stuff maybe.

Would the gbpvr server also be able to access these files?

That would be great - means the files could be transparent either on the server or hte nmt.

psycik, yes the file is accessed only locally but yes GBPVR could stream it to another machine PCH or PC.

Another downside is this is play only, to take advantage of GBPVR control for comskip resume and OSD if it happens, you wouldn't want this.

but that would only relate to items off the pch, so that's probably a good compromise...
