PVRX2 hangs on launch with NullReferenceException

Decided to add some new plugins and play with enhancing my EPG in my installation.

Now whenever I try and launch PVRX2 it hangs and the system becomes very unresponsive. After killing PVRX2 with Task Manager the log shows many NullReferenceException errors.

Here's an example of one of these errors:

I'm using XMLTV to pull listings from SchedulesDirect. Just before this started happening I added UltraXMLTV_Enhancer and added TunerStatus and SlimGBPVR. I'm using GBPVR 1.2.13 with the community3 skin, HDHomerun tuner. XP SP3

I've tried to back out various recently added plugins, compared the files in my GBPVR directory to a shadow copy I made a few days ago and can't see any significant differences other than GBPVR.db3.

Any ideas other than doing a complete GBPVR rebuild?

I think its something to do with the sub menus you've created, or one of the items you've created in those menus. I'd try removing those first. (back up your config.xml if you want to be able to get back to the menu layout after experimenting)

Thanks for the pointer. I did lots of different combinations of submenus and tasks (detailed notes available if it would help). Here's what I have determined:

If a task is in a submenu and that submenu is not the first submenu listed in the config.xml file and that task is listed as the <DefaultStartupOptions> value then PVRX2 will fail on launch.

I verified this with both the TVGuide and LiveTV tasks in various submenus.

This appears to be a defect. Work-around is don't put DefaultStartupOptions tasks in a submenu or if you do it must be the first submenu listed.
