When viewing a DVD or video in the video library if I accidently hit the "Guide" button (I got fat fingers so it happens easily!) the darn live TV guide would pull up and would not go away.

I fixed it myself and thought I would pass it along . . .

I just edited the keymap xml files for the DVD and Video players. I just deleted the line that said:

<command name="DVD_TV_GUIDE" key="F1"/>

That keeps the guide from being activated when in the DVD and Video player.

Pressing the escape key will close the tv guide.

Its there so people can check whats on TV, or schedule new recordings, while watching a DVD or video.

I figured that's why it was there.

Usually pushing it again clears it but it didn't when in the DVD or Video Player so I then tried all the likely suspects - ESC, HOME, etc. but none worked. I just restored the original keyboard maps for them and I get the same behavior - the ESC key does not clear it off in my system . . . could someone else give it a shot so we can see if it's just my system or a bug?

For now just disabling it works fine for me.

Restoring the old file was a fun experience . . . Vista notepad made it a txt file and wouldn't let me rename it to xml again! GRRR! I found you have to change the folder settings to show the file extensions and then you can change it when you hit rename. Nothing more fun that learning a new software program and operating system at the same time!

Take Care,

Strange.

I'm running LM Remote Keymap to get my Hauppauge 1062 remote to work, I wonder if it's messing with something? Though it so far hasn't affected the keyboard at all - everytime I hit a keyboard command it's worked (except for this bug).

Oh well, I'll be curious to hear if anyone else has it.

Like I said, for now just disabling it works fine for me.

Take Care,

Steve

Yep! It's the LM Remote Keymap!

I fired up GBPVR and used the keyboard in live tv, F1 brought the guide up and pressing F1 cleared the guide. I then brought it up again and tried to clear the guide by pressing ESC and it didn't work. I then exited GBPVR and shut down LM Remote Keymap, then restarted GBPVR and started live tv and hit F1 and the guide pulled up. Then I hit ESC and it cleared it off. I then restored the keymaps for the DVD and Video players and gave it a shot and pressing F1 didn't clear it off but ESC indeed did.

Sooo, it's a problem with LM Remote keymap. Oh well, it makes my remote work so I can live without the ESC key! And I don't need the guide when I'm watching a video so I'll leave it disabled in the keymaps for now. In the future I may look at HIP, Girder, etc. and see if they work better. LM was really easy to setup though . . .

TTYL,

Steve

Just because LM Remote Keymap wont let me press the ESC button on the Keyboard doesn't mean it wont send it when it's assigned to a remote key! I had the Back button on the remote programmed to HOME, I switched it to ESC and restored the keymap files and now I can clear the guide off if I hit it! (though I may leave it disabled as for some reason I tend to hit when I don't want to!)

There is a ton of places in the app where ESC is used to back out of things (directories in video library, various popups etc), so I personally wouldnt want to go without this key...

I really hadn't noticed not having it as you can click on the .. to back out of directories and usually HOME gets ya back too.

No matter, I have the Back button sending ESC now and things are working as intended.

Back to playing with Movie Whiz . . . Smile
