Only channels with an asterisk next to the name are unencrypted. All the rest will unusable to you.

If you'd use the 'DVB EPG' option when you created you capture source, then at the end of the scan it'll show a list of all the channels. Tick the 'enabled' checkbox next to those you want to key (ie, the ones with the asterisk * next to the name). When you hit ok, and it askes if you want to update the EPG, click no (since there is no DVB EPG in the US QAM transmissions).

when i go to tuning settings it wants me to pick a country and a card type again and my 2250 isn't there. do i need to do something to put it there as well?

Are you talking about the tuning assistant utility? If so, you dont need to use it. Its only for analog cards, and isnt needed in the US either.

included all of the astericked channels (was about half of the 168) and it still tells me there is no available tuner to watch the channels.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
