My store bought pvr lets you pick first run of a show, or all showings.
Is there a plug in for this so it doesn't pickup all the repeats in gbpvr?

Also, since I only got it running yesterday, if there is multiple showings of the same show, will it create multiple entries, or just not record recognizing it is the same show?
That is like Stargate plays onces at 9pm, then repeats at11pm.
Will there be 2 stargates or just one?

When you scheduler a recording from the TV Guide you can choose between 'recording once', 'record season', 'record season (weekly timeslot)' or 'record season (daily timeslot)'. Either of these last two should pickup the 9pm airing and ignore the 11pm airing.

If you're using Scheduled Directory, it'll know when shows are duplicates, and will not schedule them for recording.

I do not know if I am using it or not.
I did a search and only found something called SchedulesDirectUtilities.
Is this what you are talking about?

When you setup your capture source, what 'epg source' did you select? I'm talking about the "Schedules Direct" option there.

MC2XML is what I used for an episode guide.
I was familar with the zap2it guide from my other pvr. An LG LRM 519.

I dont know too much about mc2xml, but I don think it provides the show identifiers needed to do duplicate detection. The timeslot options mentioned earlier will take most of the pain out of it though.

Schedules Direct is pretty much zap2it, but they charge for it these days.

It does, or at list on my pvr it does list when it first aired. I guess the pvr does a check, and only trys to record it if it was within that week or something. Because after that it ignores it.
