Is there anyone that has successfully setup any version of GBPVR with a Twinhan 1020a pci DVB-S card and a DishPro dish. My problem is when I try to do a scan I get nothing, but if I let the scan finish I get a unhandled exception error. I have read threw the forums and tried all recommendations without any success. The setting for the lnbs are correct and the modified transponder ini files are correct. I also tried the different diseqc setting in the config file. Any help would be appreciated.

What version of GBPVR are you using (1.3.x or 1.2.x), what is your LNBF (Dish Pro, Dish Pro Plus or Legacy), does it work with other apps ?
I'm not sure I can help, but I've been working on this same setup recently, and I have a good scan under 1.2.13.

Have you tried different BDATwinhanDiseqcMethod settings? "0" currently works for me, but "2" has also worked in the past.

Are you using MDAPI ver. 2.2, is it registered, and is MDAPI enabled in the configuration?

I also get the error after scanning sometimes but I just ignore it and everything seems to work.

Observer_11, what BDA drivers are you using for the 1020a? There seem to be at least two sets. In config you can select Twinhan DVB-S or Twinhan DVB-S (PCI digital), depending on which set of BDA drivers you have installed. Which one are you using? (I don't recall the exact names, but the names above are close).

Background for reference for others:

The BDA driver name you see and can select in config.exe points to a named set of Twinhan drivers defined in BDA.ini (which is located in the root GBPVR directory). If you open BDA.ini, you can find the actual driver name assigned by Twinhan associated with the name you see in config (assigned by GBPVR). To find out what BDA drivers you have installed you can use graphedit, select "add filter" and review the actual driver names according to this procedure set out in the wiki.

Match the filter name you actually see specified as a BDA Source Filters with the name you see in BDA.ini under FILTER_TUNER.

Sub has commented that Twinhan has changed the BDA driver names a few times. I'm interested in which set you are using successfully.

Related oddities I'm wondering if you have seen:

I've done various installs of different BDA drivers, uninstalls/installs of the VisionTV app, etc. Several times during these installs, I get a message telling me I need to reinstall my Logitech HID mouse and keyboard drivers. Something in the Twinhan setup overwrites or affects these drivers. I'm also seeing the mpg2splt.ax default XP mux disappear after installing/uninstalling the Twinhan apps. Again, something Twinhan does in their application install setup overwrites this built in XP mux.

Like the OP, I'm having trouble with GBPVR and the 1020a (scans are intermittent), but unlike the OP, other DVB-S apps also fail in exactly the same way. I suspect the card. I've tried a clean install of XP-MCE with only the Twinhan BDA drivers (the set that uses DVB-S (PCI digital) in config).

Within the config gui my Device Type is currently set to "Twinhan DVB-S (DVB-TV 878 Digital Tuner Driver). There is another option available within the dropdown for simply "Twinhan DVB-S" which I think I may have also used in the past successfully as well.

As far as installed filters using graph edit I have 2 entries below the BDA Slip De-Framer:
  • DTV-DVB 878 Virtual BDA Receiver
  • DTV-DVBS 878 Digital Capture Filter
My relevent BDA.ini entries:

Code:
[Twinhan DVB-S (PCI BDA Tuner Driver)]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
FILTER_TUNER=TwinHan DVBS BDA Tuner Filter
FILTER_CAPTURE=TwinHan DVBS BDA Capture Filter
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=Output1

[Twinhan DVB-S (DVB-TV 878 Digital Tuner Driver)]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
FILTER_TUNER=DTV-DVBS 878 Digital Tuner Filter
FILTER_CAPTURE=DTV-DVBS 878 Digital Capture Filter
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=Output1

Note my Twinhan 1020 installed drivers are version 1.2.3.8

Hope this helps,

Observer11

Maybe try a different PCI slot? Can you get any other DVB apps working using non BDA drivers (WDM)?

It turned out to be a bad card. I replaced it and the new one is working now. I'm still tweaking and have some trouble switching diseqc with the 1020a and DP Twin, but I'll get it sorted. Thanks for the info above.

After 3 hours, finally found why my twinhan 1022a wasn't being detected.

Original BDA.ini:
FILTER_CAPTURE=DTV-DVBS 878 Digital Capture Filter

Correct Entry for twinhan card:
FILTER_CAPTURE=DTV-DVB 878 Digital Capture Filter

Notice the "S" on DVBS is not supposed to be there. Hope this helps someone from spending hours looking for this little, hard to spot difference.
