Yes, we posted about this on the last page. I said that something must have broken this feature in the current release. It is supposed to show it only on unencrypted though, so I'll fix it for the next release.

I have been struggling for quite some time to get GB-PVR working on three different computers. Each installation behaves differently, not only from one computer to the next, but differently from previous installation attempts on the same computer. I won't mention now the dozens of hurdles I've encountered.

Tonight, I managed to coax a successful ATSC cable channel scan (reporting 20 channels scanned, which actually represents about 80-100 QAM channels found). Unfortunately, as in earlier installations, nearly all them bore no recognizable station ID and were simply labeled with a xxxxxx.x number and "Unknown".

Then something wonderful and unexpected happened which I have never seen in the approximately 10 times I have reached this stage — a window popped up asking if I would like to use the web to search for ID information which is often not provided by cable companies, and if so, to provide my zipcode. I did so and clicked "yes", and to my amazement most of the found channels now had call letters or descriptive names. Wow! Unfortunately, after mapping just one channel I left the mapping window in order to go to the playback window because it seemed that the video renderer and video decoder I had previously used successfully on this machine were now not working, as I was unable to preview channels. I changed to the default renderer and decoder, which restored normal viewing. But upon returning to the mapping window, the helpful channel names were gone from the scanned channels window, and I see no way of invoking the seen-only-once utility which used the web to ID the scanned channels.

My question is – where did this helper come from and how can I invoke it again? It will help immensely in mapping the 80-100 cryptically labeled channels.

BTW, to keep things as uncomplicated as possible I am using one tuner only of a dual-tuner HD HomeRun to tune and map only QAM cable channels. Once I get cable configured, I may go to Sched Direct and add a 2nd lineup for OTA, which is what is feeding the second tuner of my HDHR.

Thanks
Jack

It only pops up after completing a scan. If you have scanned and mapped your channels in the HDHomeRun Setup, you can try enabling the "Inject CVCT" option. This will cause the found channels to have the names you listed in the "Guide Name" field in the HDHomeRun Setup.
