Different media files that I play come in different aspect ratios.
I found that I can control the resize of ffdshow to get full screen, but
I need different settings for different files.

Is it possible to always have the correct resize to full screen resolution?
Is it possible to control resize during playback? how?

Thanks,
Dan

Usually leaving the aspect ratio mode on 'auto' is enough to do the job.

What type of file type is not giving the correct results?

Press F7 a few times to make sure you're in the auto mode.

ffdshow also has profiles you can use to switch to a certain setting depending on an aspect of the input file, say size or something...
look at profiles section of ffdshow and specifically autoload and it's conditions..
then setup a profile that does what you want on only those files and save as a profile that gets autoloaded when you play a file with the right specs..

I have AVI files which display at 3:4 aspect ratio leaving black bars on the sides, other AVIs play full screen, yet others have top/bottom black bars.

H264 MKV files display with top/bottom black bars.

I'm not sure where I'm supposed to press F7 - when the movie is playing?
Also not sure where to leave aspect ration auto - in ffdshow? or gbpvr?

Thanks,
Dan

OK, I figured out the F7 - during playback. I still have top/bottom black bars, but I guess those are in the avi itself.
Also, the tip about profiles helped - seems that vobsub does not load for MKV files, but I can use ffdshow to load subtitles for mkv through an mkv profile.

The ffdshow resize is kind of quirky on the mkv files, causing interlacing effects etc. I just turned it off, whatever gbpvr does works for me.
