Startup issues

I've had a virus infection and have had to repair windows (xp). My GBPVR installation seems a little messed up now. When I click on PVRX2 or Config nothing happens... attached are my logs. Any ideas?

Has config.xml gone missing or been corrupted?

This might be the time for a re-install?

Yes, that is the problem. Config.xml is corrupt.

Try deleting the file, and replacing it with a copy of the config-dont-edit-me.xml.

Will I lose any data or recordings if I do this?

You'll have to redo settings, but it'll keep your capture sources and recordings.

So is the config dont edit me.xml file updated on a regular basis? It seemed to have some of my old settings but not all, indicating a backup recently.

Stuff about TV tuners and channels is stored in gbpvr.db3 along with the programme information displayed by the TV Guide and the list of recorded programmes.

Other stuff is in config.xml. The dont-edit-me file is a backup containing default values for use when config.xml goes pear shaped.

One other thing... now when I go into System -> Restart, I get kicked out of GBPVR and back to the desktop, rather than getting a confirmation to Restart allowing me to reboot. Ever heard of that before? I searched and can't find anything on the forum.

I think that this is controlled by ...

<SystemRestartIsAppOnly>true</SystemRestartIsAppOnly>

in config.xml. Changing the value to false may give you what you want.

Thanks Graham. I'll give that a try tonight - as well as installing a new copy of BitDefender so I have no more issues with viruses!
