Hi there team. We are shortly moving to Sydney from NZ, and I would really appreciate some advice from people in Sydney who have successful GBPVR based setups.
I'm really interested in the best EPG options, I currently use xmltvnz which has been rock solid here. My initial research threw up bigs cans of worms just in the sheer variety of similar Aussie solutions. I see the commercial option in ICETV, but is there a reliable free grabber?
The tuning etc should be pretty straightforward, so really the EPG I could use some help with. I think I'll try and stick with GBPVR as the family has come to love it, so the easier it is for me to transition the better.

Thanks :-)

I used to use xmltv (free), but for the last 4 months have been using broadcast epg for all of the freeview channels.

Don't have link to the xmltv site at the moment (at work), but can post later.

When I left AU (a little less than 4 years ago), free xmltv data was problematic. I cobbled together some scripts (batch files and PERL) to combine data from tv_grab_au and screenscraped data to get complete listings for Austar satellite and local channels for Alice Springs.

I just Googled "Australia xmltv" and the first hit was http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~willu/xmltv/index.html

Informative, but not exactly a cookbook. If I were moving back to AU, I would try "XMLTV: Download", which is bundled in the "XMLTV: Guide Pack" that you can download from http://forum.epgstream.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=500

The info at http://forum.epgstream.net/viewtopic.php...t=232#p665 says "XMLTV: Download" will work with ozTiVo.net, which might contain all the listings you are looking for (if it still works).

If you are just looking for OTA stuff maybe you just need to do what gf404 is doing.

Does the broadcast epg have a weeks worth, or just now/next?

Thanks - just arrived here this week!
I've had a quick try with my laptop and only picked up a few channels - no epg data coming down the stream so far.....
