Usb uirt and hip questions

Hello, I just recently rebuilt my gbpvr computer and I am looking for a new remote control solution. What I want to know is how hard would it be to setup the usb uirt to work with my universal remote (I'm assuming I don't need any special code for the remote) and how hard it is to get the usb uirt to work with hip to control gbpvr. Also I've seen a couple of places that say you can control the mouse with a remote control using hip. Would you be able to toggle between the arrow keys on the remote working the mouse and the keyboard arrow keys?

Sorry for all the questions but I can't seem to find any one place that has all the answers and I was hoping maybe somebody here was using this setup and could shine some light my way.

I don't think it would be hard at all to get it working. I'm no master at hip but I do use it, I use it with an MCE receiver which I don't recommend as their support for it is lacking. The USB IRT device is well supported and should clone your remote's codes well. If you want to use your remote with it I don't think that will be an issue either, the only thing to watch out for is I have had one remote that didn't work well but the remote was on its last leggs and I used another remote that seemed to send out commands rapidly so one quick tap acted like 3 presses. All of these issues will become apparent when you try it. As far as the mouse keys go I'mnot too sure as I don't use that feature and haven't really figured it out. If you want ot use a keyboard and remote at the same time it won't be an issue and I think you can toggle the mouse keys' function on the remote's buttons.
