My db3 file has suddenly grown from a few megabytes to almost 17 Gb. I was playing around with vidimport, and I suspect this may have caused it (post is duplicated in that section). Does anyone know how to clean out the mess without losing my current list of recordings?

you could try exporting you recordings (config app, plugins, then the export button, then import a new lot.

But back up your DB first.

I did that, backup and all (the backup took three hours). It worked, except that it also deleted my recording sources, custom plugins, etc. We're close...keep those ideas coming.

start over but as soon as you get all your recording sources sorted save the db3 file then import your recordings using vidimport

Use one of the free sql programs,I use sqlitespy http://www.yunqa.de/delphi/doku.php/prod...espy/index and use the vacuum function to reclaim deleted space within the database.

I found an old backup that only needed minor modification and an import to restore. However, I'm interested in this suggestion as general maintenance. Is there a commandline version that could be built into a batch file? I can see doing this, say, every time I update the EPG.

I'm sure there is a command line version sqlite is so freely available.
However under normal circumstances a cleanup is not required as the space used by deleted records gets used up again.

It is only when things go funny that there gets to be a huge quantity of deleted records that need manually cleaning up.

I think I have to do it only about once a year and that is when I have been tinkering.
