You can do DVB-S2 with GB-PVR, but since its not covered by the BDA specification, manufacturers do their own proprietary tuning stuff for their devices. The only manufacturers proprietary DVB-S2 tuning supported by GB-PVR is the Hauppauge DVB-S2 tuning, so you can use devices like the Hauppauge Nova-S2, or Hauppauge HVR-4000 etc, to record these types of channels.

Its unlikely I'll add support for the Cinergy DVB-S2 device. I dont have one of these devices, and no contacts at that company.

You'd pretty much need a Hauppauge DVB-S2 device if you want to do DVB-S2.

HD channels use either MPEG2 or H.264 encoded video. GB-PVR supports both.

What do you mean? I thought I'd clearly indicated that if you want to watch DVB-S2 channels, you'd need a Hauppauge DVB-S2 card.

H.264 etc, is nothing to do with DVB-S2. These are entirely different, unrelated concepts. For example, all our DVB-T channels (both high-def and standard-def) here in New Zealand use H.264. If a manufacturer puts a comment on the box box saying it supports H.264, its just saying that the software the box includes an H.264 decoder which is needed to watch any of these H.264 channels.

The Cinergy card you mentioned in the first post can only be used for DVB-S in GB-PVR. You'll be able to watch any of the DVB-S channels, whether they're encoded using MPEG2 or H.264 . You will not be able to watch any of the DVB-S2 channels.
