Well, after responding to this thread I decided to give GBPVR in W7 another shot. For the past week I’ve been running W7 exclusively. Between updating ATI CCC to a newer version (cannot remember which version now) and switching video decoders, installing Haali Media Splitter, and FFdshow, I must admit it works nearly flawlessly. All types of video files play through GBPVR without any crashes. Unfortunately, Live TV and scheduled recordings are still spotty. Occasionally when I select Live TV I get nothing but a black screen. If I then exit and enter the TV Guide and select a show to record it results in a zero length recording. What’s strange is that two files are created, for example, ABC News 20091806 and ABC News 20091806-1. Both files are 6KB. However, if I select Live TV and get the black screen, I can scroll up or down to the next channel and Live TV will start working. Once Live TV is working, I can usually schedule recordings through the TV Guide successfully. I’ve noticed, though, that they still sometimes fail, and two 6KB files are created. Since I use GBPVR mainly for recording and watching files rather than watching Live TV I cannot trust the W7 version. I am happy to use the fully functional setup in my XP Pro, however I enjoy fiddling with W7 and will welcome any suggestions.

Thanks,
pcostanza

This usually means it could be a signal problem or it can't lock onto a signal. If after 20 to 25 seconds it doesn't find one, it tries again and that's why you get 2 files of the same size.
I had this problem late last year when playing with OTA but after I switched to QAM it went away only to crop back up in W7 and my HDHR for awhile. It later went away as well and I expect I might see it again.
I can only suggest things you've already likely tried such as having the latest driver and turning off UAC and making sure the GBPVR Recording service has firewall permissions.
