have latest version 1.3.11 of gbpvr working with my hauppauge mvp. the mvp finds the gbpvr server and displays the gui great. i can see all my music albums with cover art, see lists of films, browse my pictures and even catch a local weather forecast.

however, if i play a MP3 i can't hear it, and if i play a movie, i can't hear or see it.

definately no a tv set up thing as i can kill gbpvr and run the hauppauge services and it works fine (all be it crap, there is sound and video).

so i've tried every codec in the list on my pc with no joy. do i need to get hold of specific codec, and if so where from/where do i place it?

any advice much appreciated.

It is not codec related. This problem is usually caused because you have not allowed PVRX2.exe through your firewall for TCP and UDP. If you are sure it is not a firewall issue, the problem could come from media on a remote share. The normal support process is to compress and upload your GBPVR logs with your post, so we don't have guess.

have attached logs directory

the network setup is winxp with windows firewall and avg-free across wireless network to netgear router.

the mvp is wired direct to the router.

will add pvrx2.exe into windows firewall exceptions....should that suffice or do i need to make any configuration change to avg/netgear?

many thanks for speedy response.

WOOOOOHOOOOO it works. gosh, that simple little step needs to be in bold letters somewhere (hmmm, it probably is & i missed it).

you've saved my hair....what great software, it even decodes video formats that the old hauppauge dog wouldn't read, woooppeeee

thank you a thousand times, i shall sleep tonight and retain most of my hair.
