I'm a newbie to this so please be patient :-)

I have just spent most of the day installing and setting up GBPVR rev 1.3.11 with a Haupage Nova-S-Plus for use with the UK's FREESAT service.

I am using DVBGUIDE to capture the EPG and this seems to work OK and GBPVR seems able to load the resulting file OK and display channels.

However, when I click "map digital channels to EPG channels" it often crashes and takes everal attempts before it suceeds but the result is not very helpfull.

DVBGUIDE produces a seperate XML file with the mapping data in it (ie BBC1 is 101, etc) - is there no way that I can use this??

The second issue is what seems to be a common problem - missing multiplexor filters - the docs say that if I am running SP1 or above it already has one installed. I also have installed the WinTv app but MuxChecker finds nothing.

Despite this I can record OK and view Live TV from a client - looks very promising.

Any advise very welcome.

Have you included the patches in the survival guide? http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40303 some of these resolve crashes when scanning.

The mapping is more complex that just BBC = 101. It says which frequency the transponder is, polarisation, various PIDS and techie stuff.

I think (memory dim tonight) that if you have decide to use .ts streams (the way things are going) then I don't think an additional mux is required.

Thanks, I'll give the patches a try.

I was hoping to convert the .ts files to mpeg2 ... thus the question about the mux.

Sorry, the mux setting is ignored when you record H.264 channels, and will always create a .ts file. It does this because .mpg files cant contain H.264 video.
