for someone who has used gbpvr as long as I have. Here goes. I bought this nifty wide screen hdtv capable lcd for my computer a few months ago. Its attached to an nVidia 6600 GT via the DVI connector. I thought when I watch a dvd that is wide-screen version that the picture would expand to the full size of the lcd screen. Watching it with pvrx2 I am not seeing that. Is there something I can do to change that? Is it my vid card driver settings or maybe a config option for gbpvr?

There is a 16:9 setting, I think of the first page in config. I don't do DVDs so I am not sure if that helps. Also check the keyboard command in the wiki. I think there might be a keyboard switch.

Also not every DVD is provided in 16 X 9 format, infact i think more are not than are currently, you can use f7 on keyboard to change aspect ratios but you will most likely be cropping some of the DVD when you hit the full screen option

I am hoping 16x9 becomes the standard for DVD's soon

I hope not... Most theatrical movies are released around 2.35:1 which means there is a letterbox, viewing those videos on a 16:9 screen.

Of course it's all personal preference, but I want to see the whole picture with correct aspect ratio. If you stretch the picture vertically, then everyone becomes tall and skinny..

Yeah, the link didn't work too well and just brought me to a forum full of users complaining that the link didn't work.

But that wide aspect TV, is cool, and frustrating all at the same time!

Has anyone ever seen the screen dimensions (and geometry) for an IMAX film? It's actually not rectangular at all. It's almost triangular, with a couple of corners cut off.

I wonder if there will be further specialized TV screen aspect ratios in the future.
