After running the Visual C++ redistributable and then running the install for 1.4.7, I'm getting errors just before the install finishes:

PsiParser.ax failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895
GBPVRTSMon.ax failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895

This system was recently rebuilt and has .Net 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1, along with the 2005 redist.

If I try to manually register those modules I get an error that says "LoadLibrary(PsiParser.ax) failed - this application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem". It might have been helpful if the error message told me which application failed. Sad (And it sure would be nice if Microsoft would make it possible to copy and paste those error messages!)

OS is XP Home and it was running 1.3.11 fabulously until this morning.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you didnt install the version of vcredist_x86.zip mentioned in the 1.4.7 release announcement. It has to be that exact version or you'll get the error you've described above.

Downloaded it directly from the link in the first post there. Even retried it a couple of times. Sad The file shows up here as 2,620 KB uncompressed, with a date stamp of 12/2/2006 7:31 AM. Event viewer shows that it completed successfully.

Your browser must be providing some locally cached version from a previous download. The vcredist_x86.exe is dated 12/7/2009.

Aha! I just installed everything on this system in the last couple of weeks. Firefox must have had the version I had downloaded then stored in cache still. I downloaded from your link again with IE and this time I saw a message about "Removing older versions" while the redist was running.

Success!

BTW, just in case any other US users run across this problem, the US date stamp is 7/12/2009 3:12 AM Wink
