My system has the DVB-T 500 dual turner card and it is set up like this

Device 1 is Happauge Nova -T 500 DVB-T (1)
Device Number 1
channels mapped are One,TV2, TVNZ6 TVNZ 7 (these all transmit on C48)

Device 2 is Happauge Nova -T 500 DVB-T (2)
Device Number 1
channels mapped are TV3, C4 (these all transmit on C50)

The issue I'm having is that if I am recording, the turner for that device seems to be inactive for watching live TV e.g.

If I am recording TV3, I can watch only live channels on Device 1, if I try to change the channel to TV3 or C4 all I get is a black screen. The recordings work fine as while a recording is happening on say TV3 I can go into Recording under pending and start watching it.

Same is for the reverse if I was recording TV2 (or any on C48) I can live watch any other C48 channels

Any ideas?

It isn't just my DVB-T card having this problem, my PVR500 (analogue) card is having the same issue. If it is recording I can only view the channel by going into Pending recording.

Why haven't you mapped all channels to both devices? I think that would cure the problem. But I'm not an expert in dvb.Wink

I didn't map all the channels to both devices as with DVB if the stations you are recording are on the same Channel you can record more than one station at a time on the same turner. I guess I could mapped all channels to all turners but I would hate for 2 stations on the same channel using both turners

It sounds like you are attempting to watch LiveTV using multirecord? That doesn't work. Sub has said he may make that work one day for Timeshift-mode LiveTV, but it will never work for Preview mode.

The work-around is if you want to watch another show on the same transponder that's already being recorded, then start a recording for that show too and watch it in-progress.

Also I don't understand your logic of having each tuner mapped only to one transponder or the other. You should have all available channels mapped to all tuners that can tune them. Let GB-PVR worry about allocating tuners. Then you can always watch live TV on any channel even if a recording is going on, and you only need the workaround above if both tuners are busy on different transponders.

As to your PVR-500, it is a dual-tuner analog device so you should be able to watch 1 show and record another if you have it setup correctly (or record 2 analog channels). But Multi-record is strictly for digital sources.

Johnsonx42 is correct above.

If a tuner is in use for recording, it cant be used for live tv.

Thanks johnsnox42, my wasn't my understanding with the new verson from reading this from the front page

"GB-PVR supports the latest technologies, including ATSC/ClearQAM/DVB-C/DVB-T/DVB-S capture devices, high definition MPEG2 and H.264 television channels, media extenders (Popcorn Hour, Hauppauge MediaMVP etc), multidec support, multi-record (recording multiple digital channels with one tuner), etc". To me this indicated that multi-record did work.

The PVR-500 has one of its inputs locked down for S-video, hence why it is being used.

I PERSONALLY think multi-record is an important point these days as most of my shows on all channels are recorded and to have the flexibility to watch any show any time during the record, this is great.

Multi-record does work, but its strictly about recording. Its unlikely that'll change in future (since most people here use live preview for live tv, and there is technically no posibility of multirecord sharing tuner for that).
