Thanks for the pointer on how to register the plugin.

I registered the plugin & tried to rescan, didn't seem to make any difference.

Logs attached.

Note I went and ran the HDHomerun config utility (from a linux box) with "scan 0" to check tuner 0 and I have attached the output as well. Seems to indicate that it was getting "'a8qam64-6956" locks and finding the channels and finding out what they were.

I tried to manually scan a channel with QAM64, frequency 682000 (kHz) and symbol rate of 6956 but it didn't find the "ONE" or "TV2" channel that the HDHomerun config utility found as:

...
SCANNING: 682000000 (uk-bcast:47, nz-bcast:47)
LOCK: a8qam64-6956 (ss=87 snq=100 seq=100)
PROGRAM: 902: 0 ONE (encrypted)
PROGRAM: 908: 0 TV2 (encrypted)
PROGRAM: tsid=0x9
...

I also tried symbol rate of 3007 per the telstraclear config file that GBPVR comes with.

Note I have the latest firmware for the HDHomerun.

I am now a bit unsure of what to try next!

Cheers

Are you saying you havnt even managed find any channels? Multidec and your smartcard reader etc will make no difference to this step in the process.

I'm guessing its a case of firewall not allowing Config.exe to receive network data from your HDHomeRun.

turned off windows firewall no difference.
re-registered all plugins no difference
added the adapter configuration again, set it for all countries and it searched 116 channels, no luck, removed setting, then added again as NZ DVB-C, checked "only show devices detected in this machine" and it correctly found the HDHomeRun, scanned for channels again no luck

going to install "wireshark" to see if there is any ethernet traffic.

in the interim, any other ideas?

update: if i used the HDHomerun setup and select WMP as the preview, then I can select a channel it has scanned but it displays as rubbish as it is encrypted.

Now I am really unsere why GBPVR cannot do the same!

Yeah - try that.

This problem isnt anything to do with encrypted channels. Its more like the HDHomeRun is not sending any data to GB-PVR, or its being blocked somewhere along the way.

Some progress:

I noticed another version of the HDHomerun windows software was made available on 24/10/09 so I re-downloaded the HDHomerun application and re-installed.
This also upgraded the firmware.
Then I used the HDHomerun software to rescan the channels and it found a few, but not many, including the Choose channel. I clicked on the Choose channel and viola, WMP started and showed the video channel perfectly (I assume it is unencrypted).

Great stuff, so I went back to GBPVR and tried again, no luck, not even finding a single channel. Now it is tiime for Wireshark.

I have tried Wireshark and when I am using the HDHomerun software, I get a pricture and sound in WMP & quickTV I can see the traffic.

I quit that and uninstalled GBPVR, reinstalled the http://www.gbpvr.com/vcredist_x86.zip files, and then the http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR10407.msi files

I disabled my MS Windows XP firewall.

I then ran Config, selected the "Capture Sources" tab, then selecting "Digital Sources Plugin", I then click on "Settings" beside this and selected "Only show devices detected in this machine" and I (now) get "No known cards detected in this machine" (when it used to find my HDHomerun). (No traffic on Wireshark to my HDHomerun at all)

Hmm, so I then fired up VirtualPC with Windows 7, re-ran the exact procedure and had the same responses, including no ethernet traffic to the HDhomerun execpt when I tried the HDhomerun applications to view the TV which works perfectly. About now I figured my machine has some really odd problem or I have missed something really obvious so I dusted off my trust laptop running Windows XP, installed per above with the precisely same result.

I wondered if under the new HDHomerun firmware I had inadvertently locked the tuner, but nope, is working fine.

Any ideas?
