For some reason, IR.EXE always crashes on me every once in a while. The program would continue to run but pressing on the remote would do nothing. If I were to close IR.EXE and restart it again, it would work until the same thing would happen after a while longer.

I've tried using the Direct access feature in GBPVR but found out that aside from up down left right, nothing else is mapped or mapped properly. The most important feature to me, skip back/forward, is mapped incorrectly to volume up/down. Is there a way to change the definitions for direct access?

I use version 1.3.11 and have Hauppauge USB PVR2. The mappings work fine when IR.EXE is launched but once again, this program is quite faulty.

I've also tried using HIP and IRServer but the Wiki's are all outdated and I've tried figuring out myself but it doesn't seem like I'm smart enough. Also, would using these 3rd party programs allow me to NOT have to use IR.EXE?

Thanks.

I am pretty sure that direct access option was for the 34/36 button remote supplied with the PVR-350 tuner. I think that windows just picks up some remote commands itself without ir.exe. for example, if you kill ir.exe and pvrx2, pressing the green power button will probably put the pc into standby.

So I don't think there is a way to make gbpvr handle the remote on it's own (but it would be neat if it did)

Make sure you are using the very latest driver and software pack from hauppague in case this fixes some bugs for you.

The problems with ir.exe are one of the main reasons I dumped the usb tuner and got the nova-t 500 PCI instead. I had 2 tuners and they both had problems, including duplicate key commands being sent.

Yes, the third parties requires the hauppauge software to be installed (for the drivers) but the IR.exe should not be running.

If HIP / IRServer are too diffcult to setup, you can try to use my software LM Remote KeyMap instead: the only thing you have to do is to create a profile for GBPVR and map the remote buttons to keyboard shortcuts GBPVR understand.

Stéphane.
