Hi,

Just wondering can anyone comment on whether an MCE USB beanbag will support a Hauppauge 45 button non-MCE remote. I plan to use EventGhost.

Doing an upgrade and looking to get rid of Hauppauge PCI cards and go full USB, but I'm so used to the 45-button remote (and have so many of them) that I'm reluctant to switch to MCE remotes.

Cheers Smile

If you can't get it to work with EventGhost, you could try IR Server Suite.

I am using the MCE remote and beanbag and I feel the pain of not having enough buttons. If I had more buttons, I could map them to things that would get me around the STB menus for ordering PPV movies and escaping from STB dialog boxes that it sometimes gets into because of stray IR signals and such.

i have pre-mapped keyfiles you can import to get setup in minutes...Tongue
so far i've just mapped mce vista remotes and Haupp. 45 button mvp remote..and pvrx2.exe

only reason i never left HIP was, i still haven't found a remote it couldn't learn...and i'm using normal driver..and if it can learn it, it can blast it too..Smile
using preset keyfiles makes setup much much easier...i need to do a updated wiki page..

I have the same setup, for the same reason as you. Using XP, I was using HIP. It was kind of a pain because I needed to use a replacement driver for the receiver in order to get it to work. And HIP had more features to wade through.

Now I'm using Win7 along with IR Server Suite. It works great and is much easier to setup than HIP. Also, the replacement driver is not required in Win7.

So I would try IR Server Suite first, the GB-PVR wiki has great instructions. I haven't used EventGhost.
