Filmstrip/Video Library art quality randomly changes

Hi, I'll be swapping across to nvpr in a release or so (client mode required etc), but in the meantime I thought I'd see if anyone had a simple solution to a problem I've had for a while - when I use filmstrip mode in Video Library (either in sub's blue or my modified CS4 skin), sometimes the image is fine, and sometimes it is extremely pixilated. It looks as if it is blowing up a cached thumbnail rather than using the actual image. If I exit out of the library and then re-enter, or simply cycle through the library modes, the image will usually change back to the high quality one, but other random movies have changed. If there is a simple setting change required etc, I would be delighted to hear it

i'm getting inconsistent behavior with what is displayed in video lib for info..
some shows with metadata.xml info show no thumbnail, even tho they're there and display in pvrx2..

but other series show all the info *and* the pic, but i can't figure out why..
in one, all pics and info show except last one, where only pic doesn't show...and it's there..

did a quick swap of pics and it shows, so apparently it doesn't like some jpgs created by ffmpeg..
[resolution is same, as well as colors..so not sure why it wouldn't like it..it displays fine everywhere i've tried it..]

i think it has something to do with caching..

aha,had to delete cache [npvr appdatadir]\thumbs\*.*
now displaying properly.. but now others aren't...hmm..
seems like it's only caching a few thumbs and the rest don't get displayed...thumbs never has many files in it..like something's limiting total..
can i turn caching off?
