I recently discovered, by accident, that I can record simultaneously on the analog port and the QAM port of this card. When I bought the card a year and a half ago, my research had told me I wouldn't be able to do this. Further research since this discovery seems to indicate that some early versions of the hardware, indeed, could not do this, but other versions can.

I stumbled on this when I had back-to-back recordings scheduled on different channels, and noticed that both resulting files had their respective programming in the padding overlap. However, nPVR wouldn't let me schedule simultaneous recordings until I removed the entries for WinTV 418 from the DeviceRules.xml.

Just thought I'd pass this on. Be careful, though, not to remove the DeviceRules entries until you are sure your card can do this.

all the 1600's can do dual...early tuner issues made some not work for QAM, but they all always did dual...
but the recording software has to be aware and have it enabled, or it won't work..
there is a mechanism in gbpvr and also in npvr to differentiate the two..[hybrid-single/combo-true dual]
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

Thanks for the clarification. So was modifying DeviceRules.xml the proper action to take to enable this in nPVR? Or is there a better configuration setting to use? Seems like there are a lot fewer options to control in the configuration interface than in GBPVR, which by and large is a good thing.

Yes, removing the entry from DeviceRules.xml is probably the best thing to do.
