When playing DVDs, for some reason it seems to be choosing "PillarBox" (but actually even thinner) instead of "Auto", and then switches to "Auto" as soon as the window is resized. I can tell that the highlighted portion of the text in the menu never seems to change no matter what (looks like it always fills the screen no matter what the settings are or when hitting F7). Anybody know exactly what the problem is?

What screensize do you have, and what is it set to in config?

1920 x 1080, and in the settings its set to "Auto". Setting it manually to 1920x1080 doesn't make any difference, it always starts out in what looks like 4:3, and then jumps to the "Auto" setting with any slight resizing of the window.

Is your TV Shape set to 4:3?

no.. I notice that as soon as any resizing of the window is done the zoom/crop (F7) automatically jumps to "Auto", which I assume is by design, but I just can't figure out where it is getting this size it starts with when playing DVDs.
