having trouble installing the patches

Hi, Gents

I have installed NPVR 1.5.33 and am having some audio sync and drop out problems. was trying to install the patches file. I downloaded it and clicked on "NExtPVR.exe" and the file starts to run, then terminates. Am I not supposed to run the file? Am I supposed to drag the contents of the zip file somewhere instead?

No, sorry, I think I inadvertantly removed the install instructions during one of my updates. You simply take all the files in the .zip and copy them over the existing files in the NPVR Program directory, which should be "C:\Program Files\NPVR". Make sure you've exited NextPVR and shutdown the NPVR recording service; use the "Stop NPVR Service" icon in the npvr program group.

DavidB you are XP so those instructions are okay, Win7/Vista users must remember UAC and likely need to apply patches as Administrator.

Not meaning to side-jack this thread, but I haven't patched anything since 1.5.33 since I've stuck with GB until N matures just a bit more. I may give it another go soon.

I have UAC "turned off" via its control panel, would you happen to know if that works as well as "run as Administrator"?

yes, with UAC turned off, you're always running as an administrator (well, assuming that your user account is itself an administrator account).
