Would a small amount of extra work for Sub make things a big amount easier for the rest of us?

A thread called Software Patches ... a sticky thread that would only accept posts from Sub ... The thread would only contain posts with updated versions of DLLs and AXs and whatnot ... Each post might contain only the name of the updated component (or components) and an attached zip containing the patches.

Sub could add his usual "Try this" or "This should fix it" or whatever in the original thread as before but instead of attaching a zip he would include a link to the relevant post in the Software Patches thread.

Anyone looking for the latest version of Nwhatever.DLL would know that there is only one thread to look in and that the version posted most recently is the latest.

I'm kind of still at the "trying these patches out" stage, talking in the specific thread with those that were having the issues, and waiting for more feedback. When I'm actually happy they're working, and convinced they're ready for everyone, I'll package up a new build of the installer. I wouldn't want to post a note telling everyone about a patch that was still a work in progress, and may just cause more issues.

Point taken ... I can see that it won't help if folk install patches that are still "work in progress" ... and create additional problems for themselves. But, many of us want to try the "wip" patches to help with the diagnostic process. Its impossible to keep track of the latest or most relevant with patches appearing in several different threads.

Perhaps we need two sticky threads "Software Patches" and "Beta Patches - Use only when directed".
