When I upgrade the Oct 15 version to 1.5.36 I have no Tv. A scan at this point finds no channels. When, as I have just done, restore system image the previous version reinstates all channels and works perfectly.
I will select live tv now and post logs then install 1.5.36 and post logs at that point.

P.s I don't want to have to reinstall Windows 7 if poss.

All done. Now have no channels

FWIW, I think I had much the same problem. I agonised over it for a while, then bit the bullet and did a clean install of Win7. (I had been using WinXP but I had System Restore turned off, so a restore was not an option)

First I'll wait for the next upgrade, this weekend or next I suspect, while hopefully another remedy will occur.
Another problem is with installation of Final patch file, which stalls and won't complete.

What do you mean? It doesn't install, so it can't stall and not complete. It's just newer versions of many of the NPVR files, which you are supposed to copy over the existing files in c:\program files\npvr (naturally after you exit NextPVR, close ntray, and shutdown the recording service). instructions to this effect are at the end of the post.

Have just reinstalled 1.5.36 and last patch which does not complete.
Screenshot attached of how far the process goes.
Any help or ideas appreciated

Did you stop the NPVR Recording Service? (Start -> Run -> Services.msc)

if you have UAC on you need to do the extraction from an elevated explorer window. right-click on explorer, select "run as administrator". or you can do the extraction into an alternate directory and then copy them over from an elevated command prompt.

Yes stopped recording service closed tray icon and even removed from pinned on taskbar.
UAC,(never notify, not recommended) as far as I am aware, is not on. I've just deleted all files to be replaced by final patch and copied new ones over manually. No change. Deleted channels from system and tried scan. Device failed to start. Selected Ok and the program tried to scan but found no channels
