I am running the last released copy of GBPVR under XP+SP3.

I only have one PCI slot in the machine so I have a Hauppauge Nova-S PCI card in that and a Hauppauge Nova-S USB2 plugged into a USB port to provide a second tuner.

I use "Hibernator" to put the system into hibernation (duh) when it becomes idle.

All works well after a reboot but after coming out of hibernation the USB tuner records videos that have horizontal stripes (a bit like pixelation).

Rebooting the machine fixes the problem, but of course it goes bad again the next time the system goes into hibernation.

I tried "DEVCON.EXE" to "restart" the USB device - but that says that "a reboot is necessary".

It looks as though the USB tuner needs a reset/reload after waking.

Anyone know of a fix for this ??

nPVR isn't really an option at the moment because (for me at least) there are some missing features that I need.

TIA
Dave

I get similar with a nova-t-500 - which is a USB device although mounted on a PCI card. Although it only does it every couple of weeks.
You could try changing the power settings in device manager for the tuner - sometimes works.
Alternatively I had to run Devcon from a wakeup script and used (I think) /R to force a reboot if it thought it was required. Slows waking from hibernate, but at least it recorded.
Another driver version may also benefit? A post on the Hauppauge UK forum may elicit a response as there were quite a number when I was after a nova-t-500 solution.

I tried one Nova-S USB for the same reason. After I got no joy out of the second one sent along, I returned it and got a refund.

I improved the PC and got a brace of second hand Nova HD-S2s (approx £50 a throw) and haven't looked back!!

From my experience of USB DVB-S (compro S500 and the Nova S) I wouldn't bother. The S500 worked a treat in Prog DVB, but that is no use for a domestic setup, but then Compro decided not to support Windows 7 for this product. Neither ever worked correctly in GBPVR...same sorts of issues as you describe!!

do the Nova HD-S2's (I would need the USB2 version) work in NZ? Someone said that since NZ freeview is not HD, the Nova HD-S2's wouldn't work...

This device works fine in NZ. Freeview DVB-S is only standard definition though, so you'll only be getting SD not HD. (same as any other DVB-S/S2 capture device)
