I'd never make the installer require users to have any specific decoder installed. ffdshow or other.

There are too many variants on Windows these days but Win7 does have excellent support for broadcast captures. It still needs the same codec and splitter support for mp4, avi and mkv files that NPVR does. As for MPC vs NPVR usage stats, let's just agree to disagree, I was simply making the point there are probably hundreds of thousands of people using ffdshow successfully Martin

No I'm not confusing. But downloads does not mean daily users, I'm convinced that a lot of them (like me) find it of no value and just discards it.
