Is anyone else running into a problem with gbpvr.exe and the recording service chewing up memory? Mine sure are.

When I first launch gbpvr.exe it takes up somewhere around 80 meg of memory. However, after it'd had been running a few days it was taking up 200 meg. Last night I noticed the recording service was taking up a whole bunch of memory too. When I first looked it was using around 115 meg of memory, even though there were no recordings in progress. I restarted the service and found it settled down to about 28 megs of memory.

Is anyone else having the same trouble? I'm using the most recent build.

Thanks,
Tim

Yup, same thing here.

I try to do a reboot at least once at a convenient point in the day if I can. It's usually OK if I leave it for 2 or 3 days. The recording service isn't too much of a problem, the memory it uses seems to only increase quite slowly, but if I run GBPVR for a while and do a lot of skipping backwards and forwards through pre-recorded stuff it seems to go through the roof.

Thanks for the suggestion Tipster. I've not used any of the memory defraggers before, and didn't realize they could free up leaked memory. I might give them a try because, as you pointed out, lots of apps have memory leaks.

However, memory manager aside, I'm still hoping sub can find some time to nail down the gbpvr leaks since they're pretty significant. Normally the process of tracking down my own memory leaks leads to finding other problems I'd missed as well.

Thanks,
Tim
