I have the Colossus on Windows 7 and i had this problem when i first set i up with my Set top box...no audio (detected in AAC) but i had a picture, the problem ended up being that i had to forceSPDIF and plug in the audio wires (White one for left and right audio) of the component cable (even if there not being used) and the Colossus picked up the AC3 audio.

Code:
<Channel>
    <Name>SRC</Name>
    <Number>602</Number>
    <ServiceType>4121</ServiceType>
    <tuning>
      <type>HDPVR</type>
      <locator>
        <channel>602</channel>
        <input>0</input>
        <audio_input>SPDIF Optical Input</audio_input>
        <blaster_executable>C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe</blaster_executable>
        <blaster_args>/C c:\blast.cmd /C c:\blast.cmd {channel}</blaster_args>
      </locator>
    </tuning>

Sorry it took me so long to get back...had some Forum access issues.
I fixed this by (1) modifying the config.xml to contain the ForceSPDIF set to true and (2) EVEN THOUGH the SPDIF does not stick in device config, you need to set it to SPDIF, select all your channels, then right click the selected channels and do "Update to Current Settings". I DID NOT need to plug anything into the Colossus audio jacks as stated elsewhere.
Device config is Settings>Devices>Select device and then Device Setup button>Input Source to Component Video & SPDIF Optical Input>Select all the channels then right click selection>Update to current settings.
Once this is done, you should see "Component, SPDIF" next to each channel.
