I use the same renderer and decoders on client and server (EVR, Microsoft DTV-DVD). No idea why it works on one and not the other. Not sure I care really.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

this bugs me because it's odd and doesn't make sense. my server is running the same renderer as everyone else who has it working, but mine doesn't work. I don't think we can blame my slow clock for this...

oh well, I really need to go back to just not caring. I don't have a mouse connected to my server, and it never even occurred to me to click on the timeline until it was brought up here.

If you change your copy your server db over to your client (so that it has the list of recordings locally) and switch it to a server (unchecking "Act as client PC"), does it work on that machine? Assuming recording file paths are still good of course.

FWIW, I can RDP into my server (Server 2012 + BDA components) and it works for me. Headless, so I can't easily test with a real mouse.

Maybe you don't have appropriate mouse drivers on the server. You can't install PnP via VNC.

Found why I had chosen VMR7 ... EVR behaves very poorly on (my?) XP setup. No speed or sync. or tear problem, but like it is in 256 colors. Is there any way to customize the renderer through Windows?

I guess I should have said I don't normally have a mouse connected to my server. I had one connected when I first installed everything, before it went back on top of the TV, and I recently plugged it back in again to test this clickable timeline thing.

I've not heard of that particular symptom with EVR in XP, but generally XP users don't use EVR. Most use one of the VMR9 renderers. EVR doesn't even exist in XP until you install .net 4 (or was it 3.5?), and then it's limited and doesn't support hardware acceleration.

That's what I had done... and is the cause of my mouse problem. Progress bar is click-able only with EVR
