Direct TV & IP Channel Changing

I think I've hit the end of the road with my patience for Time Warner.

I know there are a few Direct TV folks here. Which of you, if any, are doing IP channel changes? Which model Direct TV receiver do you have to support this?

probably not many, if any at all, as other more reliable methods are available...my stb for Dtv could use a usb/serial connection to change channels, but i used a blaster without problem for years..i think some could use firewire, but mine was locked out..
i thought the IP channel changes require a dvr stb, but i could be wrong there..

In the final analysis, if I ask the all important question, "how much am I going to pay after the first year promo?" - I'm still no head by switching.

Content providers hate us all, is my conclusion.
