Moving NPVR from old system running Windows 7 62-bit to new system (I3-4130) 62-bit. The new system came with PowerDVD 10.

I have the tuner card moved and have performed the channel scan on both tuners and have mapped the EPG data. The EPG Guide is showing the correct data. I recorded a 30-minute program and the file was played back with video and audio using VLC. After playing around with the audio/video decoders I got NPVR to play back the file with video and audio. I had to install the LAV codec to get AC3 to work in NPVR. So I know that the tuners are working.

The problem is I get a blank screen (no audio or video) when trying to watch Live TV. Note: I do get the ...please wait... My decoder setting are:
Video Renderer: EVR
Audio Render: Default.
Music Render: Default.
Video Decoders:
MPEG@ Video: Cyber Link Video Decoder(PDVD10).
H.22 Video: LAV Video Decoder
Audio Decoders
MPEG1 Audio: LAV Audio Decoder.
AC3 Audio: LAV Audio Decoder.
E-AC3 Audio: LAV Audio Decoder.

I have tried Video Render: VR9 ( which is what I use on my old system) and still no audio/video with Live TV.

I have also checked Misc2: Use alternate OSD with missing video. With this setting on I get the EPG data at the bottom of the screen but still no video or audio.

Has anyone gotten NPVR up and running on a Windows 8.1 system?

Logs are attached.

Possibly the Cyberlink decoder that came with you system isn't capable? Try setting MPEG2 video decoder to LAV

I have tried LAV Video with the same result: please wait followed by no video and audio.

Thanks.

I went back and performed a system restore to a point before I installed NextPVR. I then installed NextPVR again and performed the channel scan. Both turners were found and channels added.

Decoders Setting:
Video Renderer: EVR.
Video Decoders
MPEG2 Video: CyberLink Video (PDVD10).
H.264 Video: Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder.
Audio Decoders
MPEG1 Audio: Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder.
AC3 Audio: CyberLink Video (PDVD10).

Licked on Live TV and got ...please wait..... followed by black screen - no video and no audio.

Power DVD 10 can play a ts file fine that was recorded with NextPVR. So the decoders selected should work in NextPVR.

Logs are attached.

Not true, decoders can be locked to a player, just like Microsoft does in 8.1

For LAV make sure that you have mpeg2 format enabled.

I tried LAV 0.59 the 1st go around with the same result - no audio or video for Live TV.

I think the problem is with the Render but I have tried all of the options with the same result.

I think I see the problem: Live TV buffer is in a Windows folder: <LiveTV handle="14000B">LIVE&C:\Windows\Temp\live-WCCB-DT-4173.ts</LiveTV>
If there's no C:\Temp folder on your system, you can either create one or put the buffer somewhere in the Public Folder.
[Edit] Buffer Directory is set on Settings->Misc. If the Cyberlink decoder worked for playback, it should work for live TV.

Merry Christmas!

That fixed the problem. I created a Temp folder in C: and changed the Settings parameter. NextPVR must not be handling the permission problem when using the Windows folder.

Thanks.
