I have recently got my MediaMPV working (after fighting with Mcafee IS Suite 7) and am keen to get live TV over it. Was refered to GB-PVR and like the look of it but my Medion TV_Tuner 7134 is not listed.

Is it possible to get this working?

No, this device will not work with GB-PVR.

I don't know how old this thread is, but I recently picked up a new laptop which was also supplied with a PCMCIA Medion analogue/digital/FM tuner and I'm interested to know if anything has changed recently.

According to Windows Device Manager, the chipset is the Philips 7134 and it does seem to have BDA drivers of some kind. Didn't have much luck trying to tune channels with it so I'd be interested to know what the support is supposed to be for this type of card with the latest GBPVR.

Regards
Dave

No, nothing has changed. There is no builtin support for this type of device (and no plans to add it in future).

If you're lucky, you might be able to get it to work with the plugin from: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753

Does this apply when the card is used as a DVB-T tuner or just as an analogue tuner?

I was specifically referring to the analog side of things. I wasnt aware it was also a DVB device - if it has BDA drivers, then you should be able to use the digital side of things, but you'll need to add a section for this device to bda.ini file.

Seems there is a Medion entry there already. I can get it to scan channels now, but it seems to be having trouble with the signal strength (basically getting no signal strength reported at all and quality varying between 10 and 25). I'll have to try it with a different aerial when I get a moment.

I tried it with two portable aerials and the main house aerial, no luck. Using the same main house aerial and a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T USB2 works just fine however. So it looks like I won't be able to use the Medion tuner as a second tuner I think Sad

Cheers

For Medion Support, Try looking here:

http://medion.adslweb.co.uk

There's a section that describes how to get GBPVR working with the Medion TV Card.

Nice tip, many thanks. Adding this to config.xml helped immensely with the Medion tuner (which is now already in BDA.ini by the way):-

<BDAUsePsiParser>false</BDAUsePsiParser>

However, the Medion tuner seems to be much more choosy about locking on to a signal compared to my Nova-T. I had to turn the antenna booster up full and even then the signal was ropey.

I wouldn't mind, if Sub has the time, to have a strength/quality meter in the OSD in a future version...

Regards
Dave
