I have an older Movie (Ghost, Demi Moore/Patrick Swayze) for which the metadata generation auto or manual, just doesn't seem to work.
It's a well known movie, so I thought would be a no-brainer, but even after deleting all references and fanart to Ghost including in thumbs and media, it always reverts to the incorrect show (see attached), some sort of mini-series. Choosing a MovieDB selection instead does not yield the correct movie.

Similarly Gravity (Sandra Bullock/Coffee Man).

1. Is there an easier way to get it to delete the current metadata guess?
2. Is there a way to find and force the correct show?

A while back I asked whether nfo files could be used; can they now be used?

Sorry for the slow reply - I'm out of town. If you bump the thread next week, I'll check out what's happening with Ghost.

Is this a recording or a file in the video library?

I was able to reproduce this here. I'm not sure there is much I can do have it correctly have detected the correct show first time around.

If you'd been using an EPG that clearly identified the artwork (ie, Schedules Direct), then it would have got the correct artwork.

It basically does a search through your enabled artwork providers (thetvdb/themoviedb), doing a name search, and unfortunately finds several shows called 'Ghost', and the first one chosen from thetvdb is the Asian show you're getting the artwork from. If the EPG had the 'Movie' genre on this show (which I'm guessing is missing from your EPG), then it would have looked at the themoviedb in preference to thetvdb, and would likely have found the correct artwork.

I was able to get it to show the correct artwork by selecting the Ghost directory in the Video Library, then selecting 'Metadata' menu option and choosing the first 'themoviedb' result, them emptying the thumbnail cache directory C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Thumbs

In the future I'll probably look to provide some enhanced metadata search screen, where you can see a preview image from each search result.

Ok thanks for trying sub appreciated all the same. Seems like a lot going on to make it work and you're right - EPG is rough as it still uses TVxB to scrape websites.
