Hi All,

Quick question;

I have NextPVR set to record quite a few shows in the prime time slot. So, sometimes, i try to schedule a new show to record, but, being my schedules are booked, it seeks the next available airing (usually 1:00am or 2:00am). I sometimes have a hard time explaining what I am trying to say...haha..I hope this sentence made sense.

The above feature is a feature that I LOVE !!!! Smile

Something I just noticed though, some of these alternate airings are showing "Conflict Alternative Airing". Funny thing is, I dont have anything else set to record at that time, and, if I look in the conflicts section, there is nothing listed.

Tonight is the first night that it is going to try to record one of these conflicts, so, I don't know (despite the conflict message) if it will record or not. By the morning, I will know.

Is this some type of bug in the software? If it is, I am certainly not complaining. just wanting to know if I did something wrong.

Yeah - that's normal. It's marked with 'Conflict Alternative Airing' to help explain why a recording might be happening outside of the original recording rules (like timeslot or channel) - otherwise I'd be getting questions about why that recording happened.

Whew..... ok..... cool....thanks for the quick reply......

I did run into 1 recording that really was a conflict though....is there a way to make it search for even "the next" available new airing? (I know that's asking for a lot)...this software does so much already..just want to make sure if that feature is available that I'm not missing it Smile

It already does look for *ANY* airing of the show that would resolve the conflict. I haven't tested the exact logic since the feature was first implemented, but last I knew it first looks for airings of the show on the same channel, and then if it still has nothing it tries all channels; if there's still nothing scheduled, then it leaves the episode marked as a conflict in the original timeslot. And, it does it every night after EPG update as long as the conflict is still there. The first thing the scheduler does is dump all recordings generated from recurring recordings, including all the marked conflicts, and then goes down the list again and regenerates the entire schedule. Each night you get a new day's worth of programs loaded in the schedule, which may included the episode needed to fix a conflict. Also, sometimes when you get EPG data two weeks out, some of the shows have incomplete or placeholder data; as the show gets closer, the details "firm up".

That all said, if you are looking at the details screen for an actual conflict (i.e. a episode that's actually not scheduled because it's in conflict), you can hit "Find All" to see any possible replacements; unlike every other instance of the "Find All" feature, in this context it will ONLY show additional airings of the same episode rather than all episodes and airings of the show. As far as I can see, this functionality would only be useful if you have "look for alternate airings on unresolved conflict" disabled in Settings->Recording, as with the feature enabled if there were any available showings of the same episode then the conflict wouldn't exist in the first place.
