Hi --

I have been using NextPVR for some time, and it has worked beautifully. For various reasons, though, I did a total system rebuild -- new computer, new TV. I did put the old disk containing my recordings into the new computer and loaded both a new version of Windows 10 and the current version of NPVR. I'd recorded a lot of programs on the old system that I would like to access, but NextPVR doesn't see them. It does see programs that are recorded under the new system, so I believe that it's working.

My question is -- how do I import the programs recorded under the old system into the database built for the new system? They are in subdirectories in the D:\TVFiles directory, with the subdirectory names those of the programs being recorded.

Thank you for your help!SmileSmile

If you've still got the old c:\users\public\npvr\recordings-backup.xml file, you can just use the 'import recordings' feature to reimport the recording information into your database.

If the location of your files are different to the old location, you'd probably need to do a 'search and replace' in recordings-backup.xml to correct the paths before importing.

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, although the old location is identical to the default location under the new system build, the recordings-backup.xml file was overwritten when I loaded the new version of NPVR. Is it possible to do a batch import (I found an import button somewhere in the settings menu) by directory? For example, if I have a directory full of recordings of the PBS 'Civilizations' series (which I do), can I import the whole directory? Alternatively, is there a way to import all of the files at once? I notice that NPVR does not recognize the ctrl-A CUA method of selecting all files in the directory, but is there another way to do it, or does it have to be done file by file?

The only built-in mechanisms are importing from recordings-backup.xml, or individual .ts files.

Otherwise you could look into the VidImport utility, which I think can be used for this:

Thank you for your help. Importing all of the recordings one by one is a pain, but I've run databases, and it does make sense. In any case, the job is done.
