Hi,
I'm still quite new to gbpvr so im still overcoming some teething problems. I now seem to have it all working ok with my mediamvp. I can play my video (mpeg2) files file over mvp with no playback problems. However, when i record a tv show and play it back over the mvp it sticks frequently and stutters every few seconds. If i play back the recording using gbpvr on me pc it works fine. Why would video playback be ok using my mvp for other video files but struggle with tv recorded ones? surely they are just the same?
I've read a bit about replacing the quartz.dll but i've tried this and its still the same. If i can fix this i think i will be sorted. GBPVR is fantastic! it would be shame if i couldnt fix this.

After trying a few different things to fix this i eventually tried using an ethernet cable instead of using my wireless network, and this stopped the stuttering straight away. So at least i can now playback recordings ok.

I'm still puzzled though. when i just use a wireless connection to my mvp i can play other mpeg files and avi's no problem and they never stutter. So why is it my tv recordings do? my wireless network is only 11meg but when its running i can see its only using about 50% of the network connection. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to increase the efficiency of the network connection??

Many thanks
Darren

Its probably to do with the bitrate. The other files you're playing have a lower bitrate, and hence a lower amount of data needs to be shuffled wirelessly to them.

thanks sub,
I guess theres nothing really i can do then is there? unless, Is there any kind of buffer settings within gbpvr which could smooth over this transfer problem? ie. delay playing for a few seconds so transfer is always ahead of playing?

cheers

You could reduce the bitrate setting, so that all future recordings wouldnt have this problem.

No, all the buffering (including the size of the buffers) is managed by the MVP, and I have no control over it.

Thanks again sub for the fast reply.

I'll try lowering the bit rate and see how that goes

cheers

There is a known bug in the current release with editting the "medium profile" bitrate. The other profiles should be fine. I thought I'd mention this, as you're bound to think lowering the bitrate didnt help...

You can edit the medium profile bitrate manually in the direct.ini if you need to.

Thanks Sub. I've edited the file as you suggested and lowered the bitrate slightly. I then tested a recording again and its working spot on now. No stuttering at all.
If anyone else is having a stutter problem using wireless playback via mvp just edit the file subs suggested and it will be fine.

keep up the good work sub!
