Can anyone advise how to pre-select the language when recording dual-channel broadcasts via gbpvr / Hauppauge PVR-350
e.g. set to Lang B

Thanks for your guidance!

I don't think this is supported right now the way you explain it.
Sub has said that the next version will have a way to make both L and R of the audio play the same one side (either L or R), so you will be recording both channels, but be able to choose which one to listen to during playback.

Thanks GGF!

That's just the feature I need - I'll try to be patient!

Cheers

Just to set expectations, this wont work if you're using the TV out on the PVR350.

Hi sub - just to clarify, when you say:

"this wont work if you're using the TV out on the PVR350"

-> are you referring to the 'Playback' setting, or;
-> do you mean that this won't work with the PVR350 at all ?

Thanks

I have implemented very rudimentary support for switching between the stereo/left/right audio channels during playback in the next release. There wasnt an easy way to implement this across the entire application, but I have coded support for a couple of scenarios:

1) playback of MPEG2 files when you're using Window's built in MPEG2 Audio Decoder. Other audio decoders will not be compatible. It will not work with other file types (avi etc).

2) playback with an XCard

When you're using the PVR350's TV out, you're not using one of these two, so this feature will not be available to you.

Thanks sub - good luck with the next release!

n.b. otherwise I'm really happy with GBPVR. It's the best and simplest PVR that I've used - keep up the good work!

has this feature actually made it into the current release?

if yes - how do i choose between audio-channels? i didn't see something e.g. in the config (or in the release notes...)

thanks

If you're playing back an existing MPEG2 file, and using either the Windows 'MPEG2 Audio Decoder' decoder or an XCard, then you can press the semicolon key to toggle between stereo->left->right.

hmm... can't say that it works... nothing in the logs.

just something in the gbpvr-native.log

Code:
23:40:11.315    VERBOSE    [B]audio decoder filter: MPEG Audio Decoder[/B]
23:40:11.315    VERBOSE    getSetting(PreferredDecoder)
23:40:11.375    VERBOSE    video decoder filter: InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE    getSetting(ListGraphFilters)
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     [B]- MPEG Audio Decoder[/B]
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     - Default WaveOut Device
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     [B]- InterVideo NonCSS Audio Decoder for Hauppauge[/B]
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     - InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE     - E:\Wargames - Kriegsspiele\Wargames - Kriegsspiele_20050913_23150110.mpg
23:40:11.525    VERBOSE    getSetting(SaveGraphFiles)
23:40:11.565    INFO    DirectShowPlayerBase::playFile() done
23:40:11.605    VERBOSE    DirectShowPlayerBase::setPlaybackRate(1.000000)
23:40:11.605    VERBOSE    Restoring audio
23:40:27.729    VERBOSE    DirectShowPlayerBase::setPlaybackRate(1.000000)
23:40:27.729    VERBOSE    Restoring audio

even though i selected the mpeg2 audio decoder, a few lines later gbpvr talks about intervideo codec... or do i misinterpret something here?
