A couple of interesting notes in getting everything working.

1...Editpad Lite will add CR/LF's if it is checked in the convert tab.
2...mkdir stopped the auto-load process if put before the "if" command, moved works great.

Other than those little gotchme's the WAF is up, mostly because I am done playing with MY toy for now.

I am getting really frustrated with my new PCH A110 running the latest firmware, it just refuses to work from the directions in this thread or the Wiki. All I ever get is "Request cannot be processed".

I have the HTML working just fine, but even selecting "Browse Files" which doesn't even call a cgi script errors and returns "Request Cannot be processed". I you've Textpad to do all my editing and saved the files as Unix format in ANSI.

If I am right this should be the simplest test:

I will leave it to the others to the cgi script training but why don't you zip up the gbpvr.cgi file and send it too me, like I requested yesterday?

It was much simpler than that, now I feel really stupid! The text in the index.htm file I changed to run from my hard disk. But when I changed I wrote

HARD_DRIVE

should be

HARD_DISK

I'd been looking at the USB scripts where you use DRIVE but for Hard Disk you write DISK

OK, I'm pretty late with this thread but I wish I had paid attention much earlier. Thanks to all you great and clever guys who have derived these scripts/techniques and got the documentation up on the wiki.

Also, read obiwan's post earlier. Using Editpad does NOT guarantee that you are using the unix line return convention as he points out. Mine was defaulting to the windows convention so had to be changed for each file type. I checked everytime before saving, as well, just to make sure.

I followed the wiki USB drive instructions and it worked perfectly first time! I then modified index.htm to invoke the meta tag with 0 seconds so now it goes immediately into gbpvr.cgi.

This makes it a MUCH better and quicker experience starting up after my PC has been re-booted (used to give black screen and quite a lengthy rigmarole to get gbpvr up). I think I can also get my wife to master this!!

Sorry to cross-post but I think this is more related to this thread than the original (http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=25).

I now have a working uSB Stick Share.

Is it just my PCH, but has anyone else had an issue where the name of the USB drive CHANGES from USB_DRIVE_A-1 to USB_DRIVE_B-1 if you remove the USB stick and put it back in again? Most annoying, as the path in the mount line of the script goes out of whack ...

It is almost there but (for me) seems to still be 1 step removed from "fully" automatic (WAF). When I switch on the PCH the "Home" media source is my mvpmc share on the PC (that I used before the USB Stick). I can then choose the USB stick source i.e. USB_DRIVE_A-1 and get "instant" GBPVR, but one less step would be to switch the PCH on and have it auto-run the USB stick. Is there some way of having the USB stick set as the default "Home"? so it does this? It always reverts to my old share, presumably as that is the last thing I ran? (I admit I haven't tried disabling the META tags in the html to see if running the index.html manually will make it remember the USB stick as the last run media source).

Noting Martin's comment, what would the combined script look like?

I see you you are still using script.cgi and telnet.cgi these have been merged. Hopefully one day the wiki will be updated too.

Could someone post/WIKI this for the USB Stick Option?

Lastly, is there a way of editing the USB stick scripts with it stuck into the PCH ... ?

One thing that might help is that you shouldn't insert or remove USB devices while GBPVR is running. USB setup is managed by the NMT browser.

If you have telnet enabled then you can access the USB stick that is mounted on the PCH and use Vi (yuck) Not sure if the Busybox distro has a better text editor though.

ANother option maybe to get a spare HDD and chuck it in so you can install the Samba server and access the share from a PC client. Even a new HDD can be had for around £20
