Firstly many thanks for this excellent plugin, it has the makings of the most useful out there - for UK users anyway.

I have downloaded the latest version and after restarting the PC I can now get into the plugin and search and view favourites etc. However when I try downloading anything, it retries the 5 times and then fails with a message suggesting a problem with ISP throttling or the BBC website. However if I copy the perl command from the log and run it in a command window this works - any ideas?

Thanks

Interesting, can you attach the logs, and i'll take a look

The restarting after installing is a bug in the config app, I'll hopefully fix it in the next release.

I have to say the same here. The thumbnails appear fine and if I click say, top gear it tries the few times and give the same message Scim above quoted.

Cut&paste the line from the log in a dosbox and it proceeds with the download. But I had to do a slight tweak from
"E:\Program Files\get_iplayer\get_iplayer.pl" to just get_iplayer when running in the get_iplayer directory.

The reason that you get that error is when the perl script returns a non zero errorcode implying that either the download has failed/bw throttled or another type of error has occured. It will retry a number of times as configured but will eventually fail.

It might be worth configuring the plugin to not delete intermediate files and restart the service/reboot and rerun the download checking to see if any files get created in the temp file directory.

I'll give that a go, but I was wondering why if I manually start it off in a dos box with pasting the command line as seen in the log (with the slight tweak) it runs the download fine, but within gbpvr it go through the retries almost immediately.

I suspect it might be your path variables for strawberry perl, but without seeing the logs I can't tell.

Apologies for the delay in replying, which logs do you need?

By the way, certainly on my machine the perl path is OK.

Thanks

Probably the best thing to do is zip up all the logs in the logs directory and I'll see if i can work out what is going on

Hi similer. Having a problem with playing the download file from the recordnigs menu. All looks fine in the downloading stage oin the plugin but the mpg file in the recordings directory os a zero byte file. My guess is that the transcodng is going wrong but not sure how to debug. Logs attached.

Hi Smiler,

I've got iPlayer 3 working ok. (I had hassle with ITVTHREADNO=1 stopping the perl script executing so I remove it from the config file).

I've downloaded a couple of 'CBBC Deadly 60' shows for my daughter ....

I've got a strange results after the transcode. On the TV Sever (with iPlayer) the mpg file plays find with sound. Copied to my laptop or the liteon Network DVD player, the file pays without sound...

Also the transcoded file are much larger than the Same show recorded at broadcast time.

Any thoughts please ? I've attached my logs
