This happened with the NOVA-T on a few occasions too...

That makes me think its related to the USB on your motherboard, or the chipset drivers for it, rather than the actual Twinhan or Nova-T device.

If you're on the WinXP SP1 or higher, try the Microsoft DVR-MS mux to see if you fair any better. Some times the muxes lock up if they get garbage data, which can come from low signal quality etc.

It doesn't seem to make any difference. It still cuts short.

FWIW, I have a Shuttle SN41G with nForce2 chipset and an AMD Athlon 2200 processor.

Does that mean that there's no hope (short of buying a new computer).
Or can I fix this?

Maybe hardware. Maybe drivers. Either way, stopping mid recording usually indicates the problem is not caused by GB-PVR.

Sorry, I dont really know. Just keep experimenting and hopefully you'll find the cause.

FWIW, I contacted Shuttle to ask about whether there were any known problem with my chipset or USB hardware, and they said:

There are no known problems with USB on that machine and there is
no special driver you should install. Please follow the next steps
and reinstall your Windows. I think this problem is related to the
nVidia IDE/SW driver. This driver caused silimar problems with HDD
in past.

1. Install Windows
2. Install the latest nForce package WITHOUT IDE/SW driver

3. Install Windows Servicepacks
4. Remove all USB devices in device manager
5. Restart

After Restart Window will find the USB devices with new driver again.

To be honest, I have no appetite for reinstalling Windows. I really don't want to have to spend the next x months putting all my software back onto the computer bit by bit... It'd be nice to have a fresh, clean, install - but I'm not convinced that it's worth it.

Maybe worth checking if you can do long recordings with the Twinhan software, and if you cant, get on to Twinhan support.

I successfully recorded a couple of good long files (over half an hour) with no issues. :o

I guess that I'll keep this tuner and see what I can get working. I'm certainly not going to rush to reinstall Windows...

Ok, maybe its a bug in their BDA drivers, which isnt present in their DTV drivers.
