Thanks for the tip but I've got encoder passthrough set and it doesn't solve anything unfortunately.

I'll have to try GraphEdit for more information I believe.

It might be worth deleting any HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\devnz\ProcAmpXxxxx settings you have. It might help.

I agree, the aspect problems only appear related to gbpvr when used with vmr9 and nvidia 6x00 hardware. Other video decoders such as cyberlink and intervideo also have the issue therefore it has nothing to do with the nvidia decoder.

Other applications using vmr9 that allow aspect ratio control do not have this issue. From my own experience zoomplayer, digital watch and media portal do not have this problem.

Same here, went back to ATI9600 to solve the problem. VMR9 + Nvidia 6X00 + GB-PVR = problems described. I wonder why it only happens with GB-PVR?

I cant think of any reason it might happen. I only have ATI cards here, so I'm not not able to test it myself. Hopefully it magically fixes itself in the release due in a few days.

Hi sub,

Referring to one of my later posts in this thread, specifically this one, do you think the issue has to do with whether a "Sample Grabber" is used between the BDA device and the MPEG-2 demux, and also whether it has something to do with the demux used or how it is configured?

Also, is there a way to force GB-PVR to use a particular graph rather than generate its own each time? For example, can we have it so that if there is a file called custom_****.grf for each of the types of graphs GB-PVR uses (eg custom_bda.grf, custom_timeshift.grf, custom_dvd.grf... and so on....), it will use that graph if it is present otherwise it will generate its own? That way it may be easier to troubleshoot problems and solve them.

Final edit -- as regards the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\devnz\ProcAmpXxxxx, no such key exists. The problem occurs with a number of decoders. It seems to be solved when timeshift mode is entered.

Cheers,

It seems that after changing BDAQuickPidSwitch to false, uninstalling AC3 filter and using the Cyberlink DTV Video Decoder, my aspect ratio problems are solved. I'm not sure which of these fixed the problem, but it may be that the Cyberlink decoder did. Hopefully that can help others for the time being, although I would hope that a proper solution be found as the PureVideo codec appears to offer better picture quality.

I was experiencing this problem with my new Nvidia 6200 and found it was only happening with VMR9. I never switched aspect ratios so it was occurring with whatever the system default was, and switching to VMR7 solved the problem for me. I thought perhaps it was related to the TV out function of the board since I've only had a TV connected to the PC via the svideo output, though others seems to be having the same trouble with a monitor too.

Whatever the case, I just bought a new HDTV and hooked it up to the PC via it's DVI output. Now I have no trouble at all. I've switched to using VMR9, can switch aspect ratios (since I need to now, viewing SD videos on an HDTV), and all is well. It may not be related to the difference of using DVI out instead of SVideo out - perhaps I've changed something else in my configuration since when I was first having the trouble and settled on VMR7 as my solution, and I didn't know I fixed my VMR9 problems too. But I've not updated any drivers or anything, and can't think of anything else I might have changed either.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is if you're having the problem it might be worth your while experimenting some more with your system. Somehow it's working for me and I don't know what I may have done to fix it.

By the way, I'm using the Nero decoders, I've never had AC3 Filter installed on this machine (learned my lesson with that previously), and don't know what BDAQuickPidSwitch is. Wink

Wtg, it's interesting that your problem went away when you switched to DVI. I have a HDTV running 1024x768 (uising the VGA input) and still get the lines on the side when I use a 6600/NVidia codec where if I use my 9600/NVidia codec it works fine. As an update, I tried the 6600/intervideo codecs bundled with the WinDVD trial and they seem to work fine.

I too hope that the next release fixes this because I would love to see the Purevideo work (not complaining mind you, love GBPVR the way it is :-) ..

Sub, Interesting news on a new update any details?

Hm, i don't have any Problems with GeForce 6xx0 Series and the PureVideo Decoder @ VMR9.

GB-PVR displays wonderful. Did you installed the Microsoft DXVA-Update for WMP? One of the Update-Version's had a Problem with the Aspect Ratio. Perhaps you should look for this one.
