Ricklous,

I reloaded all the correct drivers for the boards last night and deleted all the GBPVR apps and retests within XP MCE. The blasters work fine and change my channels very well (slow of course as everyone mentions, but it works). I thought I tried the 'normal drivers', but not sure so I am going to try again. I assume that means the basic PVR150 drivers from Hauppage?

The question I have though is how could this work? Doesn't the basic 150 have it own built-in IR Blaster? If so, how would it know to use the USB blaster I have? I do not see any way, any buttons, or files I can 'teach' my remote with. Sub said when you use the MCE Blaster Plugin, you can teach teach the remote, but that's all he said. I did find IRREMOTE.ini in the windows folder though. Did I miss a thread?

Am I better off trading in these MCE PVR cards and buying two PVR150's with built in blasters?

**Edit - I tried loading the drivers for the basic PVR150 card. Drivers work - I can view Live TV, but as I figured, the channel changing has not changed. There are no 'teach' options in GBPVR. The Blaster Config and IR Blaster Configuration applications from Hauppage both say "No IR Blaster Hardware found". ShiningDragon - You mentioned that IR32 worked. How is that possible if we are using the USB blaster instead of the built in version?

Im shooting a bit blind here as i dont own the Hauppague MCE blaster, mines the microsoft oem version...

To clarify which cards you have, in your first post on this thread you say you have a 'plain' 150+FM and a 150MCE.

take a look at the two cards on this page on the hauppauge site.

Do you mean you have one each of these, one '150MCE' and one '150MCE-kit'?

It sounds like the hauppauge MCE kit is what ShiningDragon also has. maybe hauppauge usb blaster is not compatible with the MCE2005Blaster plugin. seeing as the receiver side seems to not be the same as the microsoft remote, it wouldnt be suprising if the blaster side isnt the same either.

Possibly a hunt on the forums to see if anyone else has had luck with the Hauppauge blaster and the mceblaster plugin would glean a pattern or something?

sorta running out of ideas....sorry:confused:

You are darn right. I do have the MCE and MCE kit. It took a bit to figure it out, but I do have these. Do you think I am better off just ordering the $35 Microsoft version remote? It does have 2 blasters, correct? Or should I just order the USB-UIRT receiver

http://www.pcalchemy.com/product_info.ph...e-controls.

Although, I am still unclear how you 'Teach' the remote? Is there a app or button for this in GBPVR?

BTW - Thanks for all the responses. I've been fighting with this for 2 weeks now. In my spare time of course, when the kids go to sleep :-)

Have a look at these threads, they might shed some light.

On this one scroll down quite a way to get to the relevant stuff. I'm now using the new batch file someone uploaded for me there. :p

HK Phoey, cheers for those linksSmile

Apollos current problem with using HIPSend and HIP is that it limits you to one STB, but youve not been using HIPSend so i think that would release the limit...

from a quick look at your batch file it looks like you might be able to use your system for two STBs, if so we should be able to get apollo up and running. I'll have a root round later to see if i can figure it out (after the weekend shopping chores...:o )

Yes, the USB sender has two channels, but only came with one ir blaster (unless I lost it in the excitement of unpacking all my new stuff). The MCEIR command line lets you dictate which channel it uses.

i was more refering to the channel requests it can receive....can it tell the difference between a request for channel 2 on box a and channel 2 on box b?

thats the limitation with using the '.exe channel changer' plugin with HIPSend, it only sends channel info and not tuner info. just wondered if you had a way around it with your batch file. I think i have thought of a method but it would be messy to set up.

All,

As my wife is complaining too much, I've bought a true Microsoft MCE remote kit. You know - WAF Smile . It was only $35, so it wasn't like I lost too much money. The Hauppage kit with the MS remote was $120 last I looked. I only paid $79 for the PVR150 and MCE (knock-off) remote. I'll try that in the next couple of days.
The only item I still don't understand is: How do you teach the MCE Remote. I saw in the threads above that there is a MCEIR file in GBPVR. Or was that in HIP?

the MCEIR driver comes with HIP.

to get WAF balanced out, you could use HIP to get it working with one of your boxes. still not sure about getting both controled by HIP though.

Ricklous - Do you have that HIP configuration file again? I downloaded what you uploaded and it was not usable. There was nothing in the file. I got HIP to work on the MVP and n GBPVR for a couple hours and then it stopped workng. I made no changes. This channel changing thing is getting to be a real pain. I've trained everything, but now the blasters don't even flash (red light does not blink). Can you help? Thanks

Sub - How's the new baby? Sorry I was not going to bug you, but saw you were on the forum recently. Still having problems getting any channel changing with either remotes (MS MCE and Hauppage MCE). I got the MS MCE to teach in GBPVR, but the ir commands do not appear to be sent to my STB via the blasters. What is the plan for these remotes? They all work well in Media Center.
