I was going through the same thing you have. I had an old cable box that the 150 didn't have the codes for. The codes a set in preconfigured table burned to memory on the 150. What a pain.

I ended up buying an IR transmitter from: http://www.home-electro.com/tira2.php
The had a bundle with Girder, I am not sure if they still do.

It took a little fiddling with Girder and the TIRA driver to get it to work but now it works like a charm.

There is a config file for Girder. Only thing you need to do is teach Girder your existing remote codes but that is very easy to do.

The very popular USB-UIRT works great for controlling a SAT or cable box too. gbpvr's built-in support for it means it doesn't require any extra software like Girder or HIP, and uses a simple learning mode to determine the remote's channel number and Enter codes.

The codes aren't burnt into the 150 - they appear to be in one of the big dll files and the selected device codes are downloaded to the 150 - thats how they can support new devices. It seems to use a variant of the z8 micro. At a guess I think they buy-in the Zilog remote libraries.

I'm now investigating an IR LED on the serial port with WinLirc to control my sky box. I'm against having to pay for a solution that I've already paid good Yorkshire cash for Wink

Actually if you're feeling really adventurous, try wiring an IR LED to your sound card.. i've actually seen signals come in through a Line In when firing codes from a remote, not sure if it's usable / distinguishable, or if you could similarly output those codes back, but might be worth a look.. if nothing else but for the challenge. WOMBAT_58

Would you be able to post the files that were created with HIPSEND and COOLSAT ?? I started looking into this as a possible solution, and your response confirming that it works, will allow to continue the quest .. so to speak ..

Thanks

I have heard that the new beta version of the blaster software should have a working "learn" mode. Might be worth a call/email to hauppauge support?

Have you tried all the codes? My STB was not listed either but I went thru the how list! (Long job) A couple of the codes worked! I have a Handan STB and endet up with the codes for a Humax .

ya wombat would you explain to me a little more about that? I have a pvr150 card and ir blaster. I'd love to be able to use what I have instead of buying random stuff off the net making mistakes someone else has already corrected Smile

I have sent a support email to Hauppage, requesting support codesets for the pvr150 ... they forwarded my request to Engineering. Sit and wait.

Rob Platt I suggest you do the same ... I hope this push's the request up the latter...
